Duke University offers an immersive program for the Bachelor's Degrees in Biomedical Engineering. The program will be concentrated on exposure to hands-on design, data science, computing, research, and entrepreneurship. There are 34 classes that are required by the BME major to be completed over a four-year span with two semesters per year. These courses include Mechanics of Solids, Engineering Design and Communication, Introduction to Medical Instrumentation, and the opportunity to take various electives in Humanities or Social Sciences.
The BME at Duke is housed within the Pratt School of Engineering. The BME is now the largest undergraduate major in the Pratt School of Engineering. It is ranked as the fourth-best undergraduate biomedical engineering program in the nation according to U.S. News & World Report in Best College rankings. The Duke Blue Devils also own one of the most raucous homecourt basketball environments in the nation and own one of the most historic college basketball legacies.
