Since software lies at the heart of its innovative products, Apple has created the Software Inclusion and Diversity Engineering Scholarships to award $10,000 annually for women, African American, Hispanic, or Native American college students to pay for their education in the technology field. Qualified applicants must be at least sophomores pursuing a bachelor's, master's, or doctoral degree in computer or software engineering. Candidates must submit a detailed two-page proposal for a new iPhone or iPad app they'd like to develop. Recipients will automatically be considered for a software engineering or development internship with Apple.

2. Banatao Family Filipino American Scholarships
Deadline: February 20th
Through the Asian Pacific Fund, the Banatao Family Filipino American Scholarships are granted annually for $5,000 apiece to incoming freshmen enrolling full-time at an accredited four-year college with a declared major in engineering, computer science, computer engineering, software engineering, or closely related fields. Applicants must be at least 50% Filipino heritage, maintain a minimum overall GPA of 3.0, showcase financial need, and be available for a 30-minute interview in San Francisco. Applications will only be accepted from candidates residing in Northern California or Los Angeles, Orange, and San Diego counties in Southern California.

3. Delphix Technology Scholarship
Deadline: November 15th
Each year, the Delphix Technology Scholarship is offered for $5,000 to be used toward tuition for female college students who participate in a coding competition while earning a technical degree in computer science, information technology, electrical engineering, software engineering, computer programming, or a related area of study. Qualified candidates must be enrolled full-time in an accredited U.S. institution, maintain good academic standing, and demonstrate financial need for tuition assistance. Participants must submit a software project they've developed outside of school or paid work with source codes, binaries, testing documentation, and recorded demos.

4. ESA Foundation Scholarships
Deadline: May 14th
Since 2007, the Entertainment Software Association (ESA) Foundation has awarded up to 30 scholarships annually for $3,000 each to 15 graduating high school seniors and 15 currently enrolled undergraduate students who are pursuing a degree in computer engineering, software engineering, game design, software development, or game development. Eligible candidates must be women or minority students, be enrolling in an accredited four-year college in the United States, have U.S. citizenship, maintain full-time enrollment status, carry a minimum overall GPA of 2.75, and plan to pursue a career in the computer or video games art industry.

5. Future Engineers Scholarship Program
Deadline: October 15th
Sponsored by Kelly Services, the Future Engineers Scholarship Program is hosted each year to provide one $5,000 award to full-time college students pursuing a degree in engineering, computer engineering, mechanical engineering, civil engineering, software engineering, electrical engineering, or any other branch of engineering. Candidates must be enrolled at an accredited institution in America or Canada, be accepted into the School of Engineering, have sophomore or junior standing, and maintain a minimum overall GPA of 3.0. 6. Generation Google Scholarship
Deadline: March 5th
In the amount of $10,000, the Generation Google Scholarship is distributed annually to African American, Hispanic, American Indian, or female high school seniors who are currently accepted in a degree program for computer science, computer engineering, software engineering, or closely related technical field. Applicants must plan to attend an accredited U.S. or Canada college full-time in the upcoming fall, demonstrate a passion for technology, exhibit a strong academic record, and submit a letter of reference from a STEM instructor. 7. Google Lime Scholarship

As a nonprofit organization supporting students with disabilities, Lime Connect offers the Google Lime Scholarship to provide $10,000 to currently enrolled undergraduate or graduate students overcoming the obstacle of a visible or invisible disability to receive a degree in computer science, computer engineering, software engineering, or a closely related technical field. Eligible applicants must have a passion for computer science, attend an accredited university in the United States or Canada, maintain strong academic performance, exemplify leadership, and submit two recommendation letters from professors or supervisors. 8. Honeywell International Scholarships
Deadline: February 17th
Administered through the Society of Women Engineers (SWE), the Honeywell International Scholarships are awarded annually for $5,000 apiece to outstanding female applicants who are pursuing a bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, software engineering, or manufacturing engineering. Eligible students must attend an ABET-accredited school, have U.S. citizenship, maintain full-time enrollment, and carry a minimum overall GPA of 3.5. 9. HP Scholars Program

Within the Hispanic Scholarship Fund (HSF), the HP Scholars Program provides $3,000 annually for a total of $12,000 in funding for underrepresented minority students to receive a four-year degree in computer science, computer engineering, software engineering, or electrical engineering. Eligible African American, Hispanic, or American Indian students must be pursuing a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree, maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0, and be interested in completing a summer HP internship in computer system development. 10. Judith A. Sanders Memorial Scholarship
Deadline: April 15th
Through the Rural Technology Fund (RTF), the Judith A. Sanders Memorial Scholarship is granted each year for $1,000 to graduating high school seniors who are planning to pursue an undergraduate degree in computer science, computer engineering, software engineering, information technology, or another computer-related field. Qualified candidates must be from the rural community of Graves County in Western Kentucky, be accepted for full-time enrollment at an accredited U.S. institution, have pride in their rural background, and show a passion for computer technology. Applicants must write three short essays describing their technological specialties, previous professional accomplishments, and involvement in community service.

11. MakerSquare Heroes Scholarship

As a software engineering immersion school based in San Francisco and Austin, MakerSquare has created the Heroes Scholarship to provide full-tuition costs at a $16,920 value to military veterans who've served in the Army, Marines, Air Force, Navy, or Coast Guard since 9/11. Eligible candidates must have honorable discharge as shown on the DD Form 214, possess at least a high school diploma, and have a burning desire to sharpen their software engineering skills in the flagship Makersquare immersive program. 12. Microsoft Scholarship Program

With the goal of encouraging female students, minority students, and students with disabilities to pursue STEM fields, the Microsoft Scholarship Program is offered each year to cover up to one year of full tuition for underrepresented groups earning a degree in computer engineering, software engineering, computer science, technology, or a related area. Eligible candidates must be enrolled full-time in a bachelor's program, attend an accredited four-year college in North America, carry a minimum overall GPA of 3.0, and demonstrate a passion for making a difference in the software industry. 13. Northrop Grumman Engineering Scholarships
Deadline: February 4th
Annually, Northrop Grumman Electronic Systems hosts an Engineering Scholars program to award multiple scholarships for $10,000 apiece to graduating high school seniors who intend to pursue a degree in an approved engineering, computer science, computer engineering, software engineering, electrical engineering, mathematics, or physics program. Eligible candidates must reside in communities of Maryland, California, Florida, Illinois, New York, Ohio, Utah, and Virginia where Northrop Grumman has a major presence. 14. Palantir Scholarship for Women in Engineering

Through Palantir Technologies, the Scholarship for Women in Engineering is presented annually to provide $1,500 to $10,000 to outstanding female college students who are pursuing technical study in any computer science, engineering, or related discipline to build a successful career in the technology field. Qualified applicants must be at least sophomores, attend an accredited U.S. university, maintain full-time enrollment status, and write a 500-word essay highlighting a recent technical project they've worked on. 15. Rockwell Automation Scholarship

16. SanDisk Scholars Program

Since 2012, the SanDisk Scholars Program has been granting annual scholarships up to $10,000 each to graduating high school seniors, community college students, and university undergraduate students who are planning to major in computer science, computer engineering, software engineering, or a closely related field. Eligible candidates must be continuing as full-time undergraduates in the upcoming fall, attend an accredited non-profit college, have U.S. citizenship or legal residency, exhibit financial need, and possess a minimum overall GPA of 3.0. Additional scholarships are also available for students specifically attending UC Berkeley, Stanford, UCLA, MIT, Georgia Tech, and USC.

In the amount of $3,000, the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) offers a Graduate Scholarship each year to outstanding master's and doctoral-level students who demonstrate significant motivation for pursuing an engineering-related profession, including software engineering. Highly regarded as the world's largest online programming bootcamp, Bloc has created the Women Who Code Scholarship Award to present $1,000 monthly to three women wishing to participate in the intense online iOS Developer Apprenticeship program with an experience software engineer.
