4. Community Foundation of Western Massachusetts Scholarships

Deadline: March 31st

Designed to help students from the Pioneer Valley achieve their maximum potential in higher education and overcome financial obstacles, the Community Foundation of Western Massachusetts awards 75 scholarships to residents of western Massachusetts who have been accepted to or are currently enrolled in any accredited post-secondary institution in the United States. With a very competitive selection process, the funds are offered to deserving students based on financial need, scholastic ability, and community service involvement.

5. DSS Foster Child Tuition Waiver and Fee Assistance Program

Deadline: April 1st

Administered by the Massachusetts Department of Higher Education, the DSS Foster Child Tuition Waiver and Fee Assistance Program provides a full tuition and fee waiver equivalent to 100 percent of the resident in-state tuition rate at a public institution to foster children in state custody who were neither adopted nor returned home. Eligible candidates must be under 21 years of age and currently enrolled in an undergraduate program with good academic standing.

6. Edward Bangs Kelley and Elza Kelley Foundation Scholarships

Deadline: April 30th

The Edward Bangs Kelley and Elza Kelley Foundation awards annual renewable scholarships ranging from $500 to $2,000 each to residents of Barnstable County, Massachusetts who are pursuing an accredited undergraduate or graduate degree within the health, human services, social welfare, or other related fields of curricula. New applicants and re-applicants for the funding must submit an online financial aid application, three letters of character reference, the most recent college transcript, and a detailed list of educational expenses.

7. Fitchburg Sportsmen's Club Scholarship

Sponsored by the Greater Worcester Community Foundation, the Fitchburg Sportsmen's Club Scholarship is awarded to students who are pursuing a degree in wildlife habitat, forestry management, agriculture, environmental law, or marine biology at a two or four-year institution in Massachusetts. Preference for the $1,000 renewable award is granted to relatives of Fitchburg Sportsmen's Club members in good standing. 8. Francis Ouimet Scholarship Fund

As a four-year renewable scholarship program, the Francis Ouimet Scholarship Fund provides funding to students who have performed at least two years of service as golf caddies or superintendents of operations at any professional golf course within Massachusetts and are planning to attend an accredited institution for an undergraduate degree full-time. Selection for the maximum $15,000 award is based upon academic achievement, leadership potential, community involvement, motivation, personal character, golf service, and an interview.

9. GFWC of Massachusetts Memorial Education Fund Scholarships

Deadline: February 8th

Each year, the General Federation of Women's Clubs (GFWC) of Massachusetts offers Memorial Education Fund Scholarships to female students who are pursuing an accredited graduate degree program for study in Mental Health or Education. Offered exclusively to women maintaining legal residence in Massachusetts for a minimum of five years, eligible candidates for the $3,000 award must submit a 500-word personal statement on professional goals and a letter of reference from the college department's chair.

10. Gustave and Elsa LaStaiti Scholarship

At the University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth (UMD), the Gustave and Elsa LaStaiti Scholarship is awarded to full-time enrolled students who have completed at least 24 credit hours with a cumulative minimum GPA of 3.0 or higher. 11. Janet Fraser Scholarship

Established by the Greater Worcester Community Foundation, the Janet Fraser Scholarship is offered to young people from Medway, Massachusetts who are completing or have completed a high school diploma or GED equivalent and are interested in pursuing an undergraduate degree at an accredited institution in the state. Eligible applicants are asked to compose an additional specific essay of no more than 500 words describing a person who inspires and embodies the ideal of excellence.

12. John and Abigail Adams Scholarship

The John and Abigail Adams Scholarship provides a full merit-based tuition waiver for up to eight semesters of undergraduate education at a Massachusetts public institution. In order to claim the tuition waiver, applicants must have a combined MCAS score that ranks in the top 25 percent of their school district, be a legal U.S. citizen, enroll full-time in the first traditional academic semester following high school graduation, and maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on all college work.

13. Massachusetts Early Childhood Educators Scholarship Program

Deadline: April 15th

With the goal of increasing the quality and availability of teachers and child care providers to work with young children from infant through school-age in inclusive settings, the Massachusetts Early Childhood Educators Scholarship Program grants $4,500 per semester to currently employed early childhood educators who wish to enroll in a bachelor's degree program in Early Childhood Education. Eligible candidates must be legal residents of Massachusetts, be enrolled in a public or private four-year institution full-time, and be employed for at least one year as an educator at a licensed child care program.

14. Massachusetts Public Service Grant Program

Created by the Massachusetts Department of Higher Education, the Massachusetts Public Service Grant Program provides financial assistance to the spouses and children of deceased police officers, firefighters, correctional officers, or military service members who were killed while performing his or her public service duties. 15. New England Direct Marketing Association Foundation Scholarship

On an annual basis, the New England Direct Marketing Association (NEDMA) Foundation grants $3,000 scholarships to undergraduate students in their sophomore or junior years who are pursuing a degree in marketing, advertising, or communications to begin a rewarding career in direct marketing. 16. Paul Tsongas Scholarship Program

The Paul Tsongas Scholarship Program recognizes strong academic achievement by rewarding Massachusetts students who have graduated from high school within just three years with a cumulative GPA of 3.75 or higher and a highly competitive SAT or ACT score. With each of the nine Massachusetts state colleges providing five new tuition waivers each academic year, eligible candidates for the program must be permanent commonwealth residents, be legal U.S. citizens, meet the one-year residency requirement for tuition classification, and maintain a GPA of 3.3 or higher on college coursework for continued eligibility.

As an affiliate of the Project Management Institute Educational Foundation, the PMI Mass Bay Chapter offers one annual $2,500 scholarship to students who are enrolled in an academic degree program in project management or a related field that has been approved by the PMI Global Accreditation Center for Project Management. Sponsored by the Boston Flower Exchange Inc, the Rachel Butterworth Dietz Scholarship awards $5,000 to a student in the New England region who is pursuing or planning to pursue a higher education degree in floriculture or ornamental horticulture on a full-time basis. Each year, the Boston Mensa awards the Ralphine McGill-Coons Memorial Scholarship for $500 to a local student who submits the best essay covering a topic related to science or medicine. 20. Stephen Phillips Memorial Scholarship Fund

Intended to enable students to attend college without accumulating burdensome debt, the Stephen Phillips Memorial Scholarship Fund provides annual scholarships ranging in value from $3,000 to $15,000 to undergraduate college students attending accredited U.S. institutions with a cumulative GPA of at least 2.5 or higher. In honor of her commitment and sacrifice for serving her beloved country, the USMC Captain Jennifer J. The Community Foundation of Western Massachusetts offers the Women's Partnership Scholarship for Women to female students who have had a break in their higher education and wish to return to the workforce with an undergraduate degree in hand.
