Learning From My Mistakes: An English Teacher's Blog

Operating since 2012 with three to four posts per month, this blog focuses on real-life lessons and classroom stories from the author's own teaching. With plenty of humor and tongue in cheek, the lessons are up to date and classroom tested. Student questions, answers and exercises provide humor as well as examples you could put into your own classes. Not all of Grammar Girl's tips are funny, but you will find lots of humor and factual information in Mignon Fogarty's many social media sites, podcast and RSS feed. Featuring snappy tips on punctuation, word usage, and quirks of the English language, Mignon's fast-paced grammar and style tips are available on Facebook, Twitter, Google+, Pinterest and Snapchat.

Andertoons

Andertoons are geared toward all types of teachers and classrooms, but English teachers are likely to enjoy most of them. These cartoons offer a quick dose of humor suitable for almost any teaching situation. Mark Anderson draws the cartoons and also offers cartoon-drawing courses that encourage individuality, curiosity, problem-solving and design thinking. You can look at the cartoons for free, and they are for sale for reproduction in other publications or for display purposes.

Some of the grammar and spelling mistakes students make are sources of plenty of English teacher humor. Every teacher needs a break at some point during the day, if only to relieve the hard work of grading papers. Classes can benefit from laughter too, and most of the blogs for English teachers we found have classroom-friendly images and language that can lighten the day or break up difficult lessons.
