The steep cost of education and perceived high competition for scholarships can be majorly discouraging for plenty of prospective students in high schools and universities alike, but with simple persistence and an open mind, you’ll find there are plenty of opportunities to have your education funded that you may have never even considered.
If you live on the Pacific Coast, then you live in a place where there is a rough total of just about 40 million people to the north, south, east and some of the west (depending on how close you are to the water) of you at all times. 40 millions sounds like a big number, but believe it or not, the potential opportunities for you to be awarded a generous scholarship on the Pacific Coast likely outweigh the actual level of competition from others on the Pacific Coast with whom you will be legitimately competing.
Even though there may be some who claim that the chance of being selected for a scholarship out of all other applicants is too small to count on, the ironic thing about that popularly shared belief is that its popularity is a blessing in disguise for those who ignore it.
The abundance of people who don’t bother trying to apply for scholarships because of a fatalistic belief that their applications will be buried and ignored under mountains of other applications creates a surprisingly decent chance of recognition for those who aren’t intimidated by the odds and choose go through with it. Like so many other things in life, the majority’s assumption of futility is what becomes the seemingly improbable luck of the few who actually try.
If you have the ambition to succeed and would like to be one of those “lucky” few individuals who weren’t truly that lucky but simply willing to take a chance on all of their opportunities, then you might want to consider the five college scholarships below. The following college scholarships are all some of best financial support awards that all students with genuine motivation to professionally grow, a studious nature, a love of active community engagement and the willingness to write a compelling personal essay stand a fair chance of benefiting from.
The California Groundwater Association awards this $2000 scholarship to students who plan on pursuing a career in fields such as water resources science and hydrology. The ideal candidates for receiving this award will be those who have a strong interest in using their education to contribute to the groundwater industry. Under some circumstance, applicants aiming to major in subjects that aren’t strictly water-based may possibly be considered for eligibility if their major is closely related enough and falls into the categories of natural science or environmental welfare.
To be eligible, applicants must be legal California residents for at least six months. All applicants must submit a personal essay of at least 500 words that describes their specific academic motivations and long-term professional goals.
This $2000 award is offered by the California Academy of PAs on an annual basis to ARC-PA accredited students who are participating in California-based physician care assistant programs. TO be eligible, applicants must be enrolled in their physician care assistant program on a full-time basis. Ideal candidates will be those who express a desire to pass the NCCPA board exam, have a strong ambition to contribute to the PA field, earn consistently good grades and have a legitimate need for financial support.
This scholarship awards $3500 to students who are in either the third or fourth year of an RN-BSN, LPN-BSN, LVN-BSN or BSN program. The award is sponsored by the California Association of Private Postsecondary Schools. In order to meet the award’s eligibility requirements, students must have a GPA higher than 3.0 and a legitimately demonstrable need for financial assistance. The nursing program that applicants are enrolled in must be based in California and officially accredited.
California high school seniors who have both a significant level of drive and talent in the visual arts field can be considered for this $1000 scholarship. The award is sponsored by the California Art Education Association (CAEA) to help artistically talented students fund their admission to U.S. undergraduate programs aimed at graphic design, visual arts or other related creative fields. All candidates’ applications must include six digital images of their original artwork, a compelling personal statement, three recommendation letters and their transcript.
High school seniors who have been admitted to a four-year program, have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and a strong track record of significant involvement in community betterment projects can be eligible to receive a portion of the $10,000 that the Jeff Krosnoff Scholarship Fund annually divides and provides to eligible applicants. To apply, students must submit two personal references and an essay that paints a vivid picture of their ambition.
