Annually, the Appalachian Leadership and Education Foundation (ALEF) will present full-tuition scholarships to select West Virginia high school graduates who will be attending Concord, Marshall, or Shepherd University in the upcoming fall. 2. Cecil Highland Press Scholarship

Deadline: May 1st

Within the West Virginia Press Association Foundation (WVPAF), the Cecil Highland Press Scholarship is awarded for up to $2,500 annually to bona fide residents of West Virginia who are accepted for admission at an in-state institution to pursue a two or four-year degree with a major in journalism. 3. Charleston Chapter Scholarship Fund

As part of the West Virginia Society for Certified Public Accountants (WVSCPA), the Charles Chapter Scholarship Fund offers $1,000 awards each year to graduating high school seniors in Kanawha and Putnam counties who have declared a field of study in accounting at an accredited in-state public or private university. 4. Corrie Whitlock Memorial Scholarship

Deadline: February 1st

Sponsored by the Virginia Federation of Garden Clubs (VFGC), the Corrie Whitlock Memorial Scholarship is available for up to $2,000 annually to undergraduate sophomore or junior-level students currently enrolled in an accredited West Virginia institution in pursuit of a career related to horticulture. In order to qualify, students must have declared a major in horticulture, botany, floriculture, landscape design, plant pathology, biology, environment science, land management, city planning, agronomy, forestry, agriculture, and/or related subjects.

5. Derflinger Earth Sciences Scholarship

For residents of Berkeley, Jefferson, or Morgan County, the Eastern West Virginia Community Foundation (EWVCF) provides the Derflinger Earth Sciences Scholarship each year for up to $2,500 based on financial need to graduating high school seniors who plan to attend a public college or university within West Virginia. 6. Dr. Carl and Margaret Tully Scholarship

In honor of their unselfish desire to help West Virginia citizens have access to affordable high-quality healthcare through a well-trained family physician, the Dr. Carl and Margaret Tully Scholarship is granted through the Family Medicine Foundation (FMF) to provide $5,000 per year to third and fourth-year medical students. 7. Ethel N. Bowen Foundation Scholarships

Through First Century Bank National, the Ethel N. Bowen Foundation Scholarships are awarded annually for $1,000 apiece to 20 high school seniors, college freshmen, sophomore, junior, and senior-level undergraduate students who are attending an accredited post-secondary institution full-time. 8. Fruth Pharmacy Scholarships

With the goal of providing educational opportunities for those who might not otherwise have the option to earn a degree in higher education, the Fruth Pharmacy Scholarships are granted for up to $3,000 to West Virginia residents who are enrolled full or part-time at Marshall University, West Virginia University, University of Charleston, Ohio State University, or University of Rio Grande. 9. Greater Kanawha Valley Foundation Scholarships

Each academic year, the Greater Kanawha Valley Foundation (TGKVF) awards a total of over $445,000 in scholarships for more than 400 West Virginia students pursuing post-secondary education based on financial need, academic achievement, or both. General criteria requires that all applicants reside in West Virginia, be full-time students with at least 12 credits per semester, earn a minimum score of 20 on the ACT, demonstrate good moral character, and possess an overall GPA of 2.5 or greater.

12. Kids' Chance of West Virginia Scholarships

Created by Governor Cecil H. Underwood in 1998, the Kids' Chance of West Virginia offers annual scholarships for at least $1,000 each to students between the ages of 15 and 23 years old whose parents were seriously, catastrophically, or fatally injured in a work-related accident in West Virginia. In remembrance of a beloved professor in the Department of Social Sciences and Public Administration who suffered a fatal heart attack in 1992, the West Virginia University Institute of Technology (WVU Tech) offers Richard C. Named in honor of a young woman who passed away at the youthful age of 26 at Ruby Memorial Hospital from severe injuries sustained in a vehicle accident, the Samantha Ketchem Muncy Memorial Scholarship is presented through the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine Foundation (WVSOMF) for up to $5,000 annually. 20. Terry Lee Walker Jr. Scholarship Fund

Within the Eastern West Virginia Community Foundation (EWVCF), the Terry Lee Walker Jr. Scholarship Fund has been established to award $1,000 annually to one graduating senior from each of the five public high schools in Jefferson and Berkeley counties of West Virginia. 22. West Virginia Health Sciences Scholarship Program

Through the West Virginia Higher Education Policy Commission (WVHEPC), the West Virginia Health Sciences Scholarship Program provides $20,000 for medical students as well as $10,000 for students aspiring to become nurse educators, nurse midwives, nurse practitioners, physical therapists, physician assistants, clinical social workers, and clinical psychologists each year.
