The University of Oklahoma was established in 1890. University of Oklahoma's Application Requirements
Incoming freshman usually have average ACT scores of 26.5. At least 500 students in every freshman class will be valedictorians. The freshman-to-sophomore retention rate is 90 percent. The application decision making process is based on traditional numbers, such as GPA and ACT/SAT scores, as well as individual qualities, such as imagination, background and experience. Each application is thoughtfully and thoroughly read to fairly evaluate the student's complete package. Writing competency and self-expression are measured through the personal essay. Interpersonal engagement is measured through leadership, work experience, community involvement and extra-curricular activities.
Letter of recommendations are expected from a high school official. High admissions standards ensure that the students who are admitted are fully prepared to succeed in highly competitive academic environments. Applicants may be admitted without conditions, offered admission based on agreement terms or placed on a wait list. These applicants will be admitted on an available space-by-space basis. University of Oklahoma's Tuition and Financial Aid
In-state tuition is around $8,000 and out-of-state tuition is around $21,000. All students will pay around $9,700 for room and board. The University of Oklahoma's Gallogly College of Engineering is divided into six schools that offer at least two programs. During the senior year, there is a two-semester capstone project that concludes with a national design competition. Admission to this degree program comes with strict upper-level course prerequisites. On the other hand, mechanical engineering focuses on energy, structures and motion in mechanical systems. Students learn about fluid statics, solid dynamics, thermal sciences and static vibration. Their capstone project will require them to synthesize their analysis, modeling, computation, communication, visualization and experimental skills.
