University of Nebraska at Kearney Application Requirements

As a selective college with an average acceptance rate of 84 percent, the University of Nebraska at Kearney has instituted requirements that must be met for admissions. Incoming freshmen must be graduates of an accredited high school or have achieved the GED equivalent. Students must have completed at least four units of English, three units of math, three units of social sciences, three units of natural sciences, and two units of foreign language. UNK requires that students rank in the upper half of their graduating class, earn an ACT score of 20 or above, and/or achieve a combined SAT score over 950.

Students wishing to transfer to UNK must have completed at least 12 credits at a regionally accredited institution, but still have 30 or more remaining before graduation. Transfer students should hold a minimum cumulative college GPA of 2.0 in all coursework attempted. Students seeking transfer are expected to have met the core course requirements listed above either in high school or post-secondary education. All undergraduate students must submit an online or paper application, standardized test scores, previous academic transcripts, and a $45 fee.

Graduates looking to earn their master's or specialist degree at UNK will have to provide evidence of earning a four-year accredited bachelor's degree or its foreign equivalent before receiving admissions. The University of Nebraska at Kearney prefers graduate students who have attained an undergraduate overall GPA of 2.75 or above, but requirements vary by program. Depending on the study area chosen, graduates may need to present satisfactory passing grades for the GRE or GMAT examinations. Before the deadline, students should submit an application, college transcripts, a resume, and the $45 application fee.

Tuition and Financial Aid

Undergraduate students who reside in Nebraska can expect to pay $227 per credit hour for taking their UNK courses online. Graduate students enrolling in UNK Online will need to pay $269 per credit hour as Nebraska residents or $430 per credit hour as non-residents.
