The University of Idaho, which is often called UI or the U of I, is the state's oldest public university. University of Idaho Application Requirements

Freshman and first-year students who have no previous post-secondary experience must have at least a 2.5 GPA. Transfer students will need to have at least 14 qualifying semester credits from an accredited institution with a minimum GPA of 2.0. Students who apply to the College of Engineering must have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.8 points. All students must submit official school transcripts that contain subjects and grades received. Students must submit an explanatory statement of their activities if there have been significant time gaps in their education. When it comes to graduate applications, the first step is document verification with the issuing external institutions. Then, the credentials are evaluated and GPAs are either calculated or converted. The admissions department of the College of Graduate Studies will review all materials and make their admission recommendations.

Tuition and Financial Aid

Non-resident undergraduates will pay approximately $22,040 for tuition, but residents will only pay $7,232. All undergraduates will pay around $8,354 for room and board, $1,214 for books and supplies, $1,218 for transportation and $2,622 for miscellaneous personal expenses. Overall, locals will pay a total of $20,640 and non-residents will pay $35,448. The University of Idaho offers extremely affordable graduate rates of only $8,530 for locals and $14,808 for non-locals. The University of Idaho's Job Location and Development Program (JLD) works with the Student Financial Aid department to match up students and employers who need part-time work. There are grants, loans and other source funds available.
