Reaffirmed in 2010, North Carolina A&T State University has received 10-year accreditation from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC), one of the regional agencies of the U.S. Department of Education. Furthermore, 18 academic programs at NC A&T have received discipline-specific accreditation for excellence. Computer science degrees are given the stamp of approval from the Computing Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET). The landscape architecture program was accredited through the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA).

North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University Application Requirements

Only 56 percent of applicants are accepted to North Carolina A&T, so you'll have to fulfill some strict admissions criteria for enrollment in this selective university. Incoming freshmen must have graduated accredited secondary and college preparatory schools or finished a GED diploma equivalent program. First-year students must be prepared with four units English, three units laboratory science, four units mathematics, two units social sciences, and two units of same foreign language. Satisfactory grade point average in no fewer than 19 units is required. Those under 24 years old will also need to provide scores for the SAT or ACT exam.

Undergraduate transfers looking to enroll at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University have earned at least six transferrable credits from a regionally accredited college with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0. Transfers cannot have been suspended or dropped from other institutions. At the graduate level, NC A&T requires applicants already hold a four-year bachelor's degree from an approved U.S. institution or foreign equivalent. Having an overall undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or above is needed for unconditional admissions, though lower grades can be accepted conditionally. For international students, proof of English proficiency is requested with an Internet-based TOEFL score over 80.

Tuition and Financial Aid

In-state undergraduate students enrolling full-time at North Carolina A&T will pay $3,849 each semester for tuition and fees combined. Non-residents pursuing their undergraduate studies full-time must afford $10,229 in tuition and fees every semester. Graduate students residing in North Carolina will be charged $4,387 in tuition and fees for nine or more hours each semester. Out-of-state graduate students pursuing their master's or doctoral degree full-time can expect to pay $10,589 per semester in tuition and fees. Certain programs, such as the MBA, will cost up to $450 more each semester. Incoming students must pay a $35 first-year experience fee and $200 orientation fee also.

For covering these costs, North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University considers newly matriculated students for financial aid. In fact, 98 percent of students will receive need-based help for affording tuition. Federal Direct, Graduate PLUS, Federal Perkins, and FastChoice private loans are accepted, but borrowing should be minimized. In the School of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences, the B.S. in Landscape Architecture stands as one of the lesser-known programs at NC A&T. Featuring a dynamic 128-credit curriculum, the program is structured to blend science and engineering with art to inspire creative landscapers capable of visionary designs. With an emphasis on sustainability, the program covers topics like plant materials, drawing, space creation, landscape construction, surveying, and geographic information systems. A one-year cooperative learning experience is built between the junior and senior years.

M.S. in Computer Science

Within the College of Engineering, the ABET-accredited M.S. in Computer Science program is granted through North Carolina A&T to develop the technical excellence graduate students needed for advancing in the computing workforce. Along with the "General Track," there are four specializations available for Software Engineering, Cyber Security, Secure Software Engineering, and Artificial Intelligence. The 30-credit curriculum also allows for a master's thesis or applied project option. Coursework will foster mastery of computer security, software systems, cloud computing, computational science, programming, and computer engineering.
