Online Master of Arts in Human Resource Management From National University

National University’s School of Business and Management offers business degree programs both online via an interactive learning environment and on-campus. The School is composed of three separate departments and offers several baccalaureate and graduate degrees, including the Master of Business Administration, a Master of Science in Organizational Leadership, a Master of Accountancy, and a Master of Arts in Human Resource Management.

Specifically, the online Master of Arts in Human Resource Management (MAHRM) aligns with the curriculum guidelines set forth by the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). In order to earn the MAHRM degree, students are required to complete a minimum of 54 quarter units of graduate work. As long as other credits were not used to earn another advanced degree, students may transfer a maximum of 13.5 quarter units into the MAHRM degree. National University recommends that students take the capstone project course as their last class of the degree program.

The curriculum consists of 11 courses, or 49.5 quarter units, at the core level. Topics covered include advanced studies in organizational behavior, a seminar in employee relations, compensation and benefits, a seminar in training and development, theory and practice of human resource management, a research seminar, integrating performance management, and workplace planning, developing, and outsourcing.

To complete the program, students are required to choose a graduate-level course offered by National University’s School of Business and Management. Two highly recommended courses include The Organizational Consulting Process and Finance for Non-Financial Managers. Students may also round out their degree by completing a specialization in organizational leadership. This specialization requires four core courses that cover topics such as conflict and power dynamics, leading change and adaptation, leadership in the 21st century, and developing groups and teams.
