Continuously since 1970, LeTourneau University has been regionally accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC). This Level III accreditation ensures no public sanctions with the U.S. Department of Education. LeTourneau operates under the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB). Incoming freshmen must graduate from a licensed high school/homeschool or achieve a GED score above 150. Going beyond the standard 16-unit secondary curriculum for four years of math/science and AP or Honors courses is preferred. Most first-year Yellowjackets rank in the top 30 percent of their class. On average, admitted students present a cumulative 3.62 GPA. Freshmen must also have a combined SAT score of 950 and ACT score of 20 or better. LETU's holistic review process also considers Christ-like character, extra-curricular involvement, and special talents.

Transfers and returning adults applying to LeTourneau must have at least 15 credits of college-level coursework from regionally accredited institutions to skip the freshmen criteria. Regular transfer admission without probation requires an overall college GPA of 3.5 or higher. Only credits scored "C" or above will count. No less than 25 percent of degree courses must be completed in residence at LETU. International transfers from non-English speaking countries need a minimum paper-based TOEFL score of 550 or equivalent. Graduate applicants to LeTourneau must possess an accredited bachelor's or master's with a cumulative GPA surpassing 2.5 in the last 60 credits. The M.S. Engineering specifically seeks a combined GRE score above 304.

The 30-credit curriculum is specialized in Aerospace Management, Oil & Gas Management, Program Management, or Software Engineering based on leadership goals.
