Crown College started in 1916 as a humble educational institution that was focused on preparing spiritual students to serve and influence the country and world. Crown College is Christian-based, so the campus is alive with religious prayers, services, ministries and supportive program. Crown College maintains membership through the Council of Christian Colleges and Universities (CCCU), which includes more than 100 accredited educational institutions offer Christian faculty, administration and higher education programs. Around 20 percent of students are from 40 different countries. Local students who want to go abroad may participate in the Global Impact Team program that visit over 80 countries around the world.

Crown College maintains many more professional business relationships with notable organizations across the country. These include the American Association for Employment in Education, the Association of Christian Schools International, the Association of Christians in Student Development and the Christian and Missionary Alliance (C&MA). Crown College maintains state-level relationships, such as with the Minnesota Association of Colleges for Teacher Education and the Minnesota College and University Career Services Association, as well as national organizations, such as the National Association of Colleges and Employers and the National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators. Students can choose from a rich variety of academic and Christian student groups. The college's athletic teams are members of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III . They compete in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference. Phil Vischer and Mike Nawrocki, who created the popular Christian animation show Veggie Tales, attended Crown College.

Crown College Accreditation Details

-Crown College is accredited through the Higher Learning Commission (HLC).

-Education related degrees are approved through Minnesota State's Board of Teaching. Undergraduate teacher programs will lead students to qualify for licensure through the Minnesota Board of Teaching.

Davenport University Application Requirements

In order to apply, students must submit an online application that includes a Spiritual Life Essay. They must also include their official high school transcripts, official transcripts from previously attended colleges and ACT scores. The college will accept SAT scores, but they prefer ACT scores.

Tuition and Financial Aid

Online undergraduate students will pay $415 per credit hour and $100 every semester for technology fees. On-campus undergraduate students will pay $11,770 per semester and $23,540 per year for tuition. The semi-annual meal plan will cost $1,885 per semester and $3,770 per year. A basic dorm will cost $2,085 per semester and $4,170 per year. In total, on-campus undergraduate students will pay $15,840 per semester and $31,680 per year. Online graduate students will pay $495 per credit hour for most programs. The MBA program costs $5250 per semester, which costs $515 per credit hour. MBA program semesters will generally be 10 to 15 credits.

Freshmen with high GPAs may qualify for a variety of scholarships that use unweighted high school GPA and ACT/SAT scores. The Trustee's Scholarship is worth $10,000, the President's Scholarship is worth $9,000 and the Dean's Scholarship is worth $8,000 per year. Many students qualify for the basic Admissions Scholarship that awards $5,000 per year. Undergraduate, degree-seeking students who demonstrate financial need may qualify for Federal Pell Grants that award from $588 to $5,775 every year. The Minnesota State Grant has identical requirements, but students must be enrolled at least three credits per term. This State Grant awards $100 to $10,000 per year. All students who want to receive government and institutional aid must complete the FAFSA.

Recommended Degrees

The Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education program provides students with basic teaching knowledge. Students learn how to educate, supervise, guide and coach students in a various of general subject areas like math, English and social sciences. Students take classes in cultural diversity, educational technology, child development, childhood literacy, curriculum development and special and exceptional children. After graduation, students will understand the mental, physical and psychosocial factors that influence student's cognitive, linguistic and literacy development. Students will learn how to effectively apply classroom management and discipline concepts to challenging situations. They will also be prepared to help meet the needs of children who have developmental disabilities. This degree program trains teachers to establish collaborative partnerships with parents, family members and professionals to help their children achieve the best results. Students may also take classes in educational technology, leadership and coaching.

The online Bachelor of Science in Criminology through Crown College's distance education program offers a standard degree with a unique Christian perspective. The curriculum offers a broad overview of criminal justice topics while maintaining ethical and compassionate attitudes that are central to Christianity. This degree prepares students for rewarding careers in security, probation, corrections, juvenile justice and law enforcement. The Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice starts out by introducing students to the multiple components of the American criminal justice. This program includes liberal arts, science and legal courses. For example, students may study historical examples of American law, procedure, legal reasoning, correctional practices and criminal investigation. After completing the degree program, students will be familiar with concepts like due process, rule of law, Constitution rights, court process, and criminal investigation. Students will take classes in criminal law, which explores the function of laws and their associated social issues. Students will learn about criminal liability, defenses, jurisdiction and prevention programs.

The online MBA program teaches business concepts and practices within the framework of Christian values. This faith-based perspective allows students to grow professionally, establish harmonious relationships and make ethical decisions. Students will learn how to apply their knowledge to real work situations in the private, nonprofit, government and corporate settings. Many of these MBA students want to become the next generation f Christian leaders who address their communities' most challenging social issues and the world's most challenging humanitarian crises. Graduates learn to research from diverse perspectives, solve problems with strong integrity and challenging existing practices and norms. Students will gain performance competency through completing skill- and knowledge-based projects, as well as decision making competency, through value-challenging experiences. These projects focus on enhancing the research, creative, technology, conceptual, communication and project management. The MBA program also offers the standard business administration curriculum that focuses on strategic planning, policy revision, industry trends, risk management and global HR management.
