CSUDH's School of Nursing is particularly prestigious. Several nursing degree program options are available, but perhaps the most popular is the online Bachelor of Science in Nursing program. It's designed to accommodate working adults for whom it would be inconvenient to earn a college degree through traditional channels. Most coursework is completed via the Internet. However, clinical practice hours are required in several courses. These hours are completed at various approved sites throughout the state. The program is specifically designed for individuals already working as a registered nurse who want to further their education and improve their credentials. One hundred-twenty semester units are required for graduation. These units consist of general education requirements along with nursing specific courses like community based nursing, gerontological nursing and pathophysiology.
The university's College of Business Administration & Public Policy is similarly reputable. At the undergraduate level the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration program is especially popular. Students who enroll in this degree program may choose from a variety of concentration areas like finance, global logistics, information systems and human resources. Regardless of the concentration selected all students must complete general education units and certain required business courses. These courses relate to basic economic theory, accounting, marketing and communications. The university believes that these courses provide an excellent foundation on which to build the more advanced concepts introduced in the concentration courses.
One of CSUDH's newer degree programs is found at the College of Natural and Behavioral and Sciences. The Computer Technology Bachelor of Arts program with a concentration in Homeland Security is a timely educational path that is likely to give students the tools they need to join an in-demand career field. Students in the Computer Technology department discover just how prevalent the reliance on technology is in the modern world. They begin by completing general education requirements and core requirements for the computer technology degree. Introduction courses like Computer Hardware and Tools, Dynamic Web Programming and Elementary Statistics and Probability lay the groundwork for more advanced study. Students also learn about network security and how to prevent hacking. Those who select the Homeland Security track complete additional security courses and also finish computer forensic courses. A senior project is required for graduation, and allows students to take a deeper look at the technology and the threats to security that may inform their future work.
Regardless of which degree programs students choose they all receive a quality education at this well regarded institution. Whether coursework relates to the sciences or the arts the faculty consists of acknowledged leaders and innovators in their respective fields.
