All programs are offered online through a modern learning platform called the CALUNIVERSITY LearnCenter. The instructional format is asynchronous and structured, but flexible to meet the needs of students. Students are able to learn at their own pace and style and all assignments are presented and turned in online. Faculty members are available on a regular basis to answer questions and provide guidance to students. The learning exercises and instructional materials are planned to invigorate interests in learning while providing stimulating intellectual challenges. Students typically take one class at a time in a certain sequence within every program. They are able to petition to accelerate their program by enrolling in more than one class at once to meet their academic goals. The petitions are granted on a case-by-case basis.

In 2003, the State of California incorporated California Intercontinental University and the school began its beginning operations. In 2005, the university gained California State Approval to award undergraduate and graduate degrees. In 2009, the Accrediting Commission of the Distance Education Accrediting Commission accredited California Intercontinental University. The Doctor of Business Administration in Information Systems and Enterprise Resource Management (DBAISERM) is committed to helping students perform applied research and become leaders in their respective fields. The program helps students enhance strategic thinking, analytical ability, and process implementation. Students concentrate on advanced decision-making abilities and methods, and use sophisticated research and writing skills that are needed in high-level academic and business environments. Students focus on information technology, information security, knowledge management, and information systems. Students learn how to recognize and assess information systems business issues. They interact in opportunities that improve prospects for ideal return on investments and creating value. They review business case studies and compose theoretically-grounded arguments using relevant scholarly writing techniques and peer-reviewed journals. Throughout the courses, students participate in diverse teamwork activities to gain effective abilities in working with others. The DBAISERM program requires the completion of 60 credits. The required courses include global economy, business research methodology and quantitative statistics, marketing research in consumer behavior, managing innovation integrating technology, organizational change and development in management systems, global business finance, e-commerce models and applications, merger and acquisition: due diligence report, managing IT projects, strategic management, information technology in organizations, effective security management, and enterprise resource planning and management. Students must also complete a dissertation on a modern issue in the field. The specialization courses include information technology in organizations, managing IT projects, knowledge management: concepts and practices, enterprise resource planning and management, and effective security management. Upon completion of the program, students are prepared for high level management and consulting careers in the planning, development, and support of information systems. The Distance Education Accrediting Commission accredits California Intercontinental University to grant associate, bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degree programs. The university has also received approval to function from the Bureau for Private Postsecondary Education.

• Complete and submit the online undergraduate application

• Submit official high school transcript

• Submit official transcripts from all previously enrolled postsecondary schools

• Submit official SAT or ACT scores

• Pay the $75 nonrefundable application fee

• Submit request for credit for prior learning from various sources such as College Level Examination Program tests, Defense Activity for Non Education Support tests, American College Testing, Proficiency Examination Program, American Council of Education, military training, challenge examinations, and experiential learning portfolios.
