10. Indiana Institute of Technology
Although it’s unlikely that their label as an “institute of technology” was originally meant to hold dual meaning, IIT has come to be known as a top college both for those who want to learn about technology and use technology to learn. A veritable cornucopia of affordable online college courses in Indiana, IIT’s digital offerings range from highly technical computing degrees, like the BS in Information Systems, all the way to social science programs such as Psychology and Child Development. And while it’s true that Indiana Tech favors vocational over purely academic subjects, the comprehensive online learning department – which features dozens of undergraduate options – proves that IIT can fulfill career aspirations of all shapes and sizes.

9. Bethel College-Indiana
Terre Haute, IN
While the majority of students at Bethel College in Indiana are traditional learners (only 17% of students take courses online), that’s hardly a knock against the quality of their digital delivery format. In fact, Bethel’s stellar graduation rate suggests just the opposite; at 64%, Bethel sits high atop our Indiana online college rankings in terms of actual degree completion. With this in mind, it’s more likely that Bethel’s relatively small online enrollment is a result of the choices (or lack thereof) at the undergraduate level; online bachelor’s degrees are currently limited to Business; Behavioral and Social Science; and Interdisciplinary Studies.
In-State Tuition: $8,580/yr
8. Indiana State University
Fort Wayne, IN
Though it neighbors Bethel College on this ranking, Indiana State University’s distance learning program has little in common with the 10th place contender. Perhaps the most noticeable difference is its size; with well over a dozen online degree offerings, it’s easy to see why ISU enrolls nearly a third of its entire undergraduate student body online. Everything from Accounting to Technology Management is, well, accounted for in ISU’s impressive roster of convenient and affordable distance learning opportunities. This variety contributes to ISU’s well-deserved reputation as one of the leading online schools in Indiana. And with such convenient access to online courses, it working students have little reason to endure the time constraints and scheduling demands of a traditional education.

7. University of Southern Indiana
The University of Southern Indiana is more than just one of the most affordable online colleges in Indiana—although that is undoubtedly an important factor for many students across the state (and nation). But what truly sets USI apart from its competition in this cutthroat market is its unique commitment to building the best online services it can for its students. From technology (such as laptop and smartphone) loaner programs and tech support through the university’s IT department to the full Blackboard course delivery suite, USI consistently sets a high bar for online education in Indiana.

6. Oakland City University
Oakland City, IN
Oakland City University is part of a rising contingent of Christian schools across the country that are expanding on the traditional, campus-based educational model to deliver faith-based degree programs to non-traditional students. Today, Oakland offers three promising bachelor’s degrees online in the high-demand fields of Criminal Justice, Business Administration, and Operational Management. With accelerated 5-8 week course modules; flexible, asynchronous scheduling; and a 100-year reputation for developing faith leaders through excellence in learning, students working full-time jobs will have a hard time resisting the advantages of earning this online degree in Indiana.

5. Ball State University
Statistically speaking, Ball State University’s combination of a high graduation rate and low tuition make it an obvious contender for the top online college in Indiana. As a result, it’s hardly a surprise to find BSU featured on US News’ 2016 breakdown of the Best Online Bachelor’s Programs in the country. But looking more closely, you’ll see many more explanations for BSU’s excellence in online learning – and it doesn’t take a statistician to find them. Other top draws to this top online college include its range of online bachelor’s programs (including Early Childhood Education, Criminal Justice, and Business Administration) and the sheer number of students enrolled as distance learners (nearly 6,000!).
In-State Tuition: $9,498/yr
4. Harrison College-Indianapolis
It’s safe to say that Harrison College’s Online Studies program is one of the most sophisticated and well-established distance learning initiatives in the State of Indiana. After all, the program has swelled to well over two-thirds of Harrison’s student body since its establishment, comprising students of all states, backgrounds, and interests. Today, Online Studies is a virtual facsimile of Harrison’s on-campus offerings, with bachelor’s programs available in more than 10 distinct disciplines. In fact, the only conspicuous omission is the cooking program! Other than that, Harrison offers just about any online college course in Indiana you could want.

3. Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College
Saint Mary of the Woods, IN
Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College is proof that price is not the decisive factor when it comes to selecting the best online schools in Indiana. While the average annual cost of attendance year at SMWC may stand out among programs that appear to be racing to the bottom, its wide range of online degree offerings and high educational standards have swayed the minds of many when it comes to investing in their future. SMWC’s 50% graduation rate is another part of the picture; after all, what good is a cheap degree if you can’t feel confident in your chances of actually earning it?
In-State Tuition: $28,932/yr
2. Indiana University-East
For your dollar, there aren’t any schools on this list that offer as many unique online degree opportunities as Indiana University-East. In fact, you would be hard pressed to get any online degree in Indiana for less than what you’ll spend at IUE. And yet, the university shares at least one trait in common with its more expensive neighbor on this Indiana top online college ranking – because just like SMWC, Indiana University-East understands that low-cost courses are meaningless without high-quality instruction to back them up. For proof, all you need is to take a quick look at the school’s selection of online bachelor’s degrees, which blends career-focused programs like Criminal Justice and Business Administration with liberal arts classes such as English Literature, Political Science, and Mathematics.

1. Indiana Wesleyan University
If you can get in, there’s almost no reason not to choose Indiana Wesleyan University as your future online alma mater-to-be. But don’t just take our word for it; look at the numbers!
