In this ranking, we examine top value universities and colleges in Delaware for 2020.

Delaware is a small, unassuming state whose best feature might be its proximity to large cities…in other states. And yet that's a benefit worth mentioning! If you attend any of the three schools listed below, you'll find yourself within driving distance of some of the East Coast's most popular hot spots, including New York, Philadelphia, Baltimore, and the District of Columbia. You can view these Delaware colleges as your all-access pass to internships, cultural venues, and permanent job opportunities. As an added bonus, these universities tout tuition rates that easily slip under the national average. In short, what Delaware lacks in quantity it more than makes up for in value - i.e. affordability, return on investment, and student satisfaction. Featured Online Programs

Figuring out where to apply? These top, accredited schools offer a variety of online degrees. Consider one of these accredited programs, and discover their value today.

  1. Delaware State University
    Location

    Dover, DE

    Tuition

    $12603

DSU is perhaps best known as one of the most affordable colleges in Delaware, but its appeal isn't limited to its low cost. Delaware State offers what it calls "a passport to life," encouraging students to expand their horizons and explore their interests. But despite this open attitude, DSU isn't an open admission school; on the contrary, its 44% acceptance rate makes it the most selective in the state! Take a three-hour excursion off campus to New York City, Philadelphia, Baltimore, or Washington, D.C. to access the best internships and cultural events on the East Coast. Then again, you don't have to leave Dover to make new discoveries; academic resources on campus include 53 undergraduate degrees, a "University College" for undecided students, and a competitive Honors Program.

  2. University of Delaware
    Location

    Newark, DE

    Tuition

    $15407

Boasting a distinguished line of alumni that includes three signers of the Declaration of Independence and the current Vice President of the United States, the University of Delaware has been perfecting the art of education for more than 250 years. UD ranks among some of the top universities in the country (needless to say some of the best colleges in Delaware) for its high research activity (it's a land, sea, and space grant institution), high-tech facilities, and high graduation rate (79%). The only reason you might want to avoid this university is if you struggle with indecisiveness: UD's 140+ degree programs won't make it easy for you to pick a major! From Ancient Greek and Roman Studies to Biochemistry, Insect Ecology and Conservation to Apparel Design, this cheap Delaware college is a bastion of academic diversity.

  3. Goldey Beacom College
    Location

    Wilmington, DE

    Tuition

    $19206

A well-rounded and well-located university, Goldey Beacom College is the perfect choice for students of varied interests. Using its suburban, 24-acre campus as your home base, you can easily travel to Baltimore, Philadelphia, or New York for both internships and weekend getaways. Of course, there's nothing wrong with staying in Wilmington, either! The affordable Delaware college is all about convenience and accessibility; students can take classes all year round in eight- or fifteen-week sessions or through intense seminars. GBC's selection of majors is equally practical, focusing on fields of study like business, economics, psychology, criminal justice, and English. Many of the professors place a special focus on education for busy adults, and as a result have earned a student approval rating of 90%!
