Blogs about internet security have the ability to not only spread ideas but also educate the masses on the trends in our race to the future. In our coming-of-age world, the internet and virtual worlds are our new frontier. Staying safe in these new areas of vulnerability should be a top concern for anyone. In the spirit of such awareness, let's review five very high-marking blogs about internet security.

US-CERT

US-CERT is not your typical blog. It is the United States Computer Emergency Readiness Team's official blog on all cybersecurity threat information. It is laid out somewhat like a newsfeed, with information coming from a chronological list of updates. No matter, it is widely seen as the authoritative source of blogs about internet security and cyber threats. To date, some of the most recent postings have included happenings such as Cisco Security Update, announcements on cyber incident reporting information, and even a tip section for the Olympics in Rio. Additionally, the blog provides many links that direct one to other areas of similar relevance.

Security Affairs

Winner of the 2016 Best European Personal Security Blog Award, Security Affairs in your one-stop shop for everything cybersecurity. The blog's creator, Pierluigi Paganini sought to create an advocacy forum for anyone interested. Paganini, a self-described ethical hacker and security evangelist was succesful and the outcome was Security Affairs. Aside from providing vast depths of knowledge, we can also say that the blog is well organized into searchable topic sections. With so many subtopics in cybersecurity, a blog could easily become a useless pile of information, difficult to sort through. Overall, this blog is very solid.

Security Watch

Security Watch is a free offering of PC Magazine and its expert team of writers. The blogs layout is very eye-friendly and feels very much like an online magazine, very much in contrast to that of blogs such as US-CERT which we discuss above. As far as information contained, the blog itself is a very relevant and information-filled source of all things related to cybersecurity. Just a few examples of the many topics covered include malicious, fake torrent sites, antivirus programs, online trolls, and financial security online. Modern, chic, relevance is probably the best way we could describe PC Magazine's Security Watch.

The Hacker News

As its name implies, The Hacker News is a cybersecurity blog that provides more of a newsfeed feeling from the hacker's point of view. It is always impressive to find articles here on news events that are not being covered in other leading blog sources on the subject. Topics currently being discussed include the Guccifer 2.0 attacks, the recent intrusion into the NSA, and the new trend in malware remote injection. This blog is simple, but very informative and cutting-edge.

The Threat Hunter Blog, The Data Breach Blog

Our final blog in our list of top blogs about internet security is actually a dual blog. Courtesy of SC Magazine, the magazine specifically for IT security professionals, we have a two-blog offering. Though not daily, The Threat Hunter Blog is maintained by the esteemed Dr. Peter Stevenson and covers threats of deeper cybersecurity knowledge such as exploit kits and netbots. The Data Breach Blog however is closer to a newsfeed, providing news stories chronologically. Combined, this set of blogs by SC Magazine offers great insight as to what is happening right now in the world of cybersecurity.

It is important to stay in the know when it comes to your own cybersecurity. This pertains to anyone accessing the internet for any purpose. With these five blogs about internet security, anyone can really be abreast of their cyber surroundings.
